Dear Visitatore,
March, April, and May were a blur of airports, coffee cups, and timber talk. First stop: Portland’s International Mass Timber Conference, where I presented our 11-storey CLT tower in Rome—shear walls all in CLT, engineered for seismic and wind acceleration. (If you missed it, the full slide deck is now free to download). |
|
|
From there I zig-zagged across North America—Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, New York—meeting potential partners and soaking up ideas.
Barely unpacked, I was off again, this time to South America for two talks: one in Curitiba, Brazil, and another in Santiago, Chile. Theme of the tour? “Is timber really too expensive, or are we looking at costs the wrong way?” (Spoiler: with the right DfMA lens, timber wins more often than you think.) They’ve started calling me “the DfMA guy,” which I'll happily own—I was preaching it long before the acronym trended. |
 |
Slides from Brazil and Chile will be live on our site and LinkedIn soon—stay tuned. New faces, new codes, new challenges… and a notebook full of ideas for where Ergodomus heads next. I can’t wait to share the first one with you right below: the five pillars that make mass timber truly cost-competitive.
Missed me on the road? • Looking for a Mass-Timber partner? We can help - provided you reach out before it's a "day too late": so you'd better do it today! • Organising a conference and want a no-nonsense DfMA perspective on stage?
It’s never too late—drop us a line and let’s build something extraordinary together. |

From Mass Timber to Smart Timber:
the 5-Pillar Cheat-Sheet |
Twenty-two years in timber engineering means hundreds of projects, every size and difficulty you can imagine. After each one, we huddle as a team, celebrate the wins, study the stumbles, and fine-tune our approach—that Lean / Kaizen habit keeps Ergodomus moving forward. Those reviews distilled into five unbreakable pillars for cost-competitive timber: |
 |
Experience (XP) – seasoned engineers uncover savings nobody else sees.
Early Expert Involvement – call the timber team on Day 1, not Day “too late.”
Time: think slow, act fast – 1 hour in the office can save 4 hours (or more!) on site.
Holistic Cost-vs-Time Trade-Offs – material price + install speed + crane time.
Dedicated Timber PM – one conductor, one DfMA score, zero bottlenecks.
I’ve wrapped these lessons into a brand-new article that demystifies “Timber vs Concrete/Steel” budgets. Cost is always the hot button, so dive in, add your take on LinkedIn, and—most importantly—loop us in early. My takeaway from the MacLeamy curve: decisions made on Day 1 influence 80 % of the outcome. Bring us in then, and your next building can be Smart Timber—not just “Mass Timber,” and definitely not “Mess Timber.”
It’s time to think slow, act fast. Ready to make timber the smartest choice on your next project? Call the Ergodomus team today.

Volumetric Timber Modular Buildings: our concept! |
Need speed without sacrificing quality? Our Volumetric Timber Modular Building (VTMB) system swings fully finished modules—walls, floors, MEP, even façades—straight from factory to site.
In March we showed how a DfMA-driven workflow ties design, production, and crane lifts together, keeping schedules tight and budgets steady. Missed it? Catch up now and see how VTMB solves housing shortages at record pace—while shrinking your carbon footprint. |

ErgoDetails – Timber Detailing Done Right |
They say the devil’s in the details; we say the savings are. Back in January we unveiled ErgoDetails: a free library of 2D/3D timber-to-timber, timber-concrete, and timber-steel joints—complete with interactive models and PDFs.
Whether you’re an architect fine-tuning interfaces or a contractor chasing faster installs, these ready-to-download details keep surprises (and extra costs) off your site. Haven’t explored them yet?
Dive in and let the details do the heavy lifting. |

New amazing project in Singapore!
Supported by 27-metre glulam columns, Sprint Canopy spans between two towers to deliver 3,000 m² of sheltered public space. Tropical winds and seismic loads were demanding, yet the critical challenge was column buckling—overcome with hidden steel cores and precision detailing. Explore the gallery to see how strength and elegance meet above Singapore’s skyline. |
